Important Information Regarding Heartland Data Security Breach
Heartland Payment Systems announced on January 20, 2009 that it has had a data intrusion into its processing systems. Heartland Payment Systems reports that the information stolen included card numbers, expiration dates, and possibly names. No other personal identifying information such as addresses, birthdates, or social security numbers were accessed or obtained.
Oxford Federal Credit Union is being notified by VISA of all debit or credit cards that may have been affected. At this time, no individual member accounts have been affected by fraudulent activity.
Please rest assured that Oxford Federal Credit Union is taking all necessary precautions to ensure that our members’ accounts are safe and protected.
- All debit and credit cards are protected by the VISA© Zero Fraud Liability Program. This means that no member will be responsible for any fraudulent activity on their account.
- Members whose cards have been affected by this breach will be notified by mail. Compromised cards will be replaced with a new card with a new number and expiration date.
- You can continue to use your debit cards as usual until you receive your new card. The compromised card will be blocked at this time.
Please take the following measures to protect your accounts:
- Carefully review your monthly account statements and immediately report any unauthorized charges or withdrawals by calling Oxford Federal Credit Union.
- Monitor your checking account information via Oxford Federal Credit Union’s CU Anywhere home banking product and TellerPhone audio response telephone service.
- Monitor your credit card activity by logging onto EZcard info through our website at www.ofcu.org.
- Be especially wary of scams via phone and email in regards to this data breach that request personal data or try to confirm personal details about your account. Oxford Federal Credit Union will not contact members via phone or email to obtain or verify your personal information. If any fraudulent activity is suspected on your account, you may receive a phone call from VISA to verify if the suspected transaction is valid. They will never ask you for any personal information.
